The second eatBute event took place 11th - 13th September 2009. An exciting and diverse programme attracted over 3000 visitors to the event, which has quickly established itself as one of the top food events in Scotland's Food Calendar.
The key event, the eatBute food & craft market involved 58 exhibitors, each of whom had unique and exciting products to offer visitors. Isle fo Bute Cheese, Lamb and Highland Beef, Loch Fyne Oysters, Local Trout, Rose Veal, Chutneys, Jams and Seaweed were among the delicious products available to sample and purchase from the market. Crafts included ornate walking sticks, pottery, jewellery, silverware and stationery, highlighting the wealth of talent that our local craftspeople possess.
A fun programme of food themed family and children's activities ran throughout the weekend, including a treasure trail and apple juicing sessions. This kept the little ones busy and after their exertions kids (and adults alike) we able to enjoy a delicious Zavaroni's of Bute ice cream cone.
New elements of the event proved very popular with visitors; Our cookery demonstrations saw special guests such as Willie Pike (OBE) and Nell Nelson "The Woman who ate Scotland" create mouth-watering dishes using products fresh from the eatBute market. In addition, a banquet lunch in the Old Vistorian Kitchens provided and opportunity to sample the culinary excellence of our chefs.
